Industrial Noise Assessment

Accu Acoustics has wide-ranging industrial experience which we can bring to bear on your project.

 

All Accu Acoustics’ staff are grade-appropriately qualified as corporate or associate members of the Institute of Acoustics (IoA) and have either completed or are currently in the process of completing the IoA postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.

Core Services

  • Noise assessments in support of planning and permitting applications, including standalone and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports;

  • Baseline and operational noise surveys;

  • Compliance assessments;

  • Specification of mitigation, considering Best Available Techniques (BAT); and

  • Site investigations, seeking to identify potential sources of noise complaints.

For surveys we use Class I sound level meters capable of audio recording, octave and 1/3 octave and FFT analysis and for unattended surveys we can deploy these alongside weather stations. If required, we can also use acoustic cameras to investigate the source of particular noise issues on complex sites.

 

​We use CadnaA noise prediction software, which operates according to the ISO 9613:2024 standard. We have developed tools with programming language MATLAB to enable prediction of internal noise levels within industrial buildings, using information on proposed building materials and internal plant, and have successfully deployed these tools to check the likely noise emissions of proposed facilities at noise sensitive receptors.

The team has worked on a number of industrial projects over the last two decades including:

 

  • Planning applications for small-scale manufacturing sites;

  • EIAs for nationally significant industrial development masterplans;

  • Industrial permit applications, both to the Environment Agency and SEPA;

  • Noise complaint investigations;

  • BAT assessments; and

  • Construction noise and vibration assessments in support of industrial developments.
