Sectors & Services

Accu Acoustics offers a comprehensive range of expert noise consulting services, tailored to meet the needs of the sector and project concerned. We have a particular focus on the renewable energy and industrial sectors, but our experience is wide-ranging as is our understanding of the different acoustic challenges that each sector presents.

Sectors

Renewables

Batteries and Solar

Accu Acoustics’ team of technical advisors has extensive experience in providing noise consultancy services for Solar Developments and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout the UK.

Our recent experience on Solar and BESS developments includes involvement at all stages of the project lifecycle, from early feasibility studies, through planning, technical due diligence of consented developments to confirm expected compliance with consented noise limits, and all the way up to compliance monitoring of operational sites.

As the energy storage sector has grown rapidly in recent years, our team has worked closely with BESS developers and manufacturers along the way to provide detailed and robust solutions and to deliver positive outcomes for challenging renewables and green energy projects.

Wind

With over 23 years’ combined experience in both onshore and offshore developments, our team specialises in wind farm noise assessments across the UK and internationally. We use reliable, long-life equipment and custom-built digital tools to ensure efficient, accurate data processing and fully traceable assessments—robust enough for a Public Inquiry if needed.

Our services cover all stages of development, including feasibility, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) inputs, baseline and compliance surveys, cumulative assessments, and due diligence.

In offshore wind, we assess noise and vibration from piling, prepare EIA noise chapters for the associated onshore infrastructure, and conduct compliance testing of substations and cable routes.

Other Renewables and Electrical Infrastructure

Accu Acoustics is well placed to provide expert guidance and support on other renewable energy and infrastructure projects, including hydroelectric power, synchronous compensators, and substation developments.

Industry and Minerals

We provide acoustic consultancy for industrial and mineral developments, including planning support, complaint investigations, and environmental permitting.

Our experience spans everything from small-scale plants to nationally significant infrastructure, with services covering EIAs, mitigation strategies, and Best Available Techniques (BAT) appraisals.

We also offer noise and vibration assessments for mining and quarrying projects in the UK, Ireland, and internationally, including to IFC/World Bank standards.

All team members hold the Institute of Acoustics’ (IoA) Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement. Simon and Gregor have completed the IoA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control and Declan is working towards his.

Space

The team at Accu has some of the greatest experience in noise from rocket engine testing and launching within the UK. We have provided noise prediction and assessment in support of planning applications for rocket engine testing facilities and the UK’s only fully‑licensed vertical launch spaceport.

Our experience includes the provision of noise Chapters within the Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE) submissions for spaceports and for launch operators, noise and vibration monitoring of test facilities during engine testing and site suitability studies.

Property and Urban Regeneration

Accu provides a range of noise support services to property developers covering site suitability assessments, change of use applications, masterplanning and EIA. Our team has worked on many successful residential developments, focussing on seeking the best and most visually appealing mitigation strategies and providing the best acoustic environment for future occupiers.
